The PhD in Education at KIMT University, Georgia is a research-intensive program designed for educators, policymakers, and scholars who aim to advance knowledge in educational theory, policy, and practice. This program equips students with the analytical and research skills needed to address critical challenges in education, such as curriculum development, educational leadership, technology integration, and inclusive learning.

Admission requirements
- Applicants to the degree programme must have successfully completed, and must have normally achieved a Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- All applicants must be practising at management or administrative level and be able to provide evidence of three years full-time, or pro- rata for part time, recent relevant work or academia work experience at the time of application.
- Applicants who have obtained a predoctoral Diploma/ Level 8 or equivalent content and standard (level and credits) from another institution will be considered for admission to Stage 2 under the Recognition of Prior Learning Policy. Such applicants may apply for exemptions to some or all of Stages 1 and directly eligible to apply PhD Top up. They must have completed a minimum of 120 credits (or equivalent) at advanced degree level (Level 8 at RQF Level) in equivalent Such candidates must supply all supporting documentation at the time of application.
Course Structure Overview
he program comprises 180 ECTS credits, structured into three stages:
- Stage I: Credit Transfer (60 ECTS)
Applicants will receive 60 ECTS credits transferred from their Master’s degree.
- Stage II: Advanced Modules (60 ECTS)
Students will complete three core modules, each worth 20 ECTS credits:
- Advanced Research Methods in Education
- Contemporary Issues in Educational Leadership
- Policy and Reform in Global Education
- Stage III: Doctoral Thesis (60 ECTS)
Thesis
Commitment Required of Students
Dedicate approximately 15-20 hours per week to coursework, including readings, assignments, and discussions.
Participate actively in online learning activities, such as forums, webinars, and group projects.
Complete all assignments, presentation, and the research works within the stipulated deadlines.
Maintain consistent communication with faculty and peers to foster a collaborative learning environment.
Engage in independent research and complete the thesis project.
Method of Assessment
To successfully complete the BSW, students are expected to:

What must be provided with each application?
All of the following items must be submitted on or before the application closing date. They may be submitted online.
- CV (maximum 6 pages).
- A personal statement of approximately 350 – 400 words. The personal statement should focus on the applicant’s interest in the PhD in education, how they expect the programme will impact on their career and how they plan to balance their work, life and study commitments.
- Copies of master certificate (or equivalent) and bachelor certificate diploma or degree parchments, as well as transcripts of associated results.
- Applicants whose first language is not English must submit the original certificate of completion of an English test.
